Audrey and Wesley are Unbelievably Eight

My sweet twins turned 8 last week. It's so hard to believe. These pictures are also unbelievable because they were SO sweet with each other. So nice, holding hands, hugging!!!

We had a party with some of their classmates at Xtremenasium and they had a lot of fun!

And wrapped up the birthday week with some El Nopal and a little celebration at home. Love these two so much!!!

Disney January 2022 - Christmas Surprise

This was one of those things I felt like as the kids were getting older we would regret not just going for it. The only thing holding us back was the expense. I mean, lordy, Disney you crazy.

BUT it was worth every penny.

We had a direct flight and hired a driver so it was such a seamless travel day!

We had to get two adjoining rooms (ouch) because of our big ole family but it worked out great. We stayed in Pop Century and would definitely stay here again.

We placed our Instacart order as soon as we got to the hotel and it was timed perfectly. We got ALL the snacks and I don't think we left any behind when we went home.

Provisions for the week. (I think we did leave some of this, haha).

Can I just say we got so lucky with the weather. First week of January and it was sunny and 73 every day! Perfection! At times I couldn't imagine being there in the summer. No thank you.
We did 4 days, no park hopper, 1 park per day. It was exhausting!

The Star Wars Galaxy's Edge was a highlight. We geeked out at every turn!!

My ankle took a serious beating.

This was me every night (Yes that's a chip bag full of ice! I used what we had).

It was seriously so bad. Once I got moving I could hobble around and keep pace but getting going was bad. I couldn't put any weight on it when I woke up so I'd hop to the shower, cry hysterically, get it moving then I could face the day. Ha! I saw a podiatrist recently that said it was a tendon that I had I guess worked too hard and we would look at new shoes and inserts for my next trip so I wouldn't be miserable. I'm so old!!

But I would do it again! So many magically and special things about this trip but above all it was the wonder in the kids eyes at each new and exciting thing. We can't wait to go back!

Cancun - Panama Jacks October 2021

 Aggghhhhh take me back!!!

This trip was so great. Passport delays and long lead times had me a nervous wreck for a few months (thanks USPS for screwing up a simple passport photo). But when we arrived we were all set to go! The kids first flight!!

They did so great.

Once we go to the resort we ate, we drank, we lounged. It was everything we dreamed of. Our room came with a cabana and that's where I spent most of my time. The kids enjoyed the kids club (except Evan was too old for most of it).

So many great things but we loved to dress up for dinner, not worry about the prices on the menu, eat as much as we wanted, agh it was fantastic!

We did one excursion and regretted it. Snorkeling for kids is not a good idea. Lesson learned. We got some good pictures though. Not mentioning how I was supremely hungover this day, ha!

We can't wait to go back to Cancun though. So beautiful and fun!!

Time Flies

So clearly my New Years resolution last year lasted about 5 months. Then I neglected the blog again. And so much has happened!

I would love to recap it all but I feel that would take three days so maybe a quick recap? Then I'll possibly go back in and add them later. Social media has pretty much taken care of the whole document every life event and trip for me so I don't feel like the blog is as relevant. BUT in the big scheme of things I want to turn this blog into a book someday, not like a book I'll sell but a life story kind of book I can pass on. But by then maybe books will be irrelevant and everything will be online!

Anyway!

Let's see, where did we leave off? Summer 2021? Pandemic still rolling, masking, we all got vaccinated though and breathed a sigh or relief. A lot of people didn't trust the vaccine though and so we kept on pandemicking. New strains and relaxed mandates were a bad combination but less people were dying so we rolled.

In October last year Todd and I celebrated our 20th anniversary. We went to Panama Jacks resort in Cancun (with the kids). It was amazing! The pictures will tell the story but we ate, we drank, we played. It was incredible.

I was lucky enough to head back to Cancun in December (same resort) with my book club girls for Michelle's bachlorette. It was so fun!!!

And then we surprised the kids with a trip to Disney for Christmas. BEST SURPRISE EVER!! We had so much fun and it's a trip we will never forget.

Around mid-January Todd's dad became very ill and sadly passed away, he had lung cancer and was not doing well and then he got Covid and that's all his body could take. He was 83. We're still handling his estate, he has a house to sell and there's some issues with the neighbor and an easement we have to settle before we can put it on the market. Hopefully we can get a surveyor soon to straighten it out.

Biggest-ish news is we are starting our home remodel very soon! It's been in the works for almost a year. Planning and making selections is done and we are paying our first draw TOMORROW! Then we will get a schedule and work can begin. I'm so excited! Let's not talk about how the cost has doubled since last year. We're not talking about that.

Two big trips coming up, Colorado in June and Puerto Vallarta in October. We have always loved to travel and now that the kids are older we are doing all we can!! I've got the next couple of years lined out and we'll be doing some big things!! Stay tuned!
