And I still have no clue what I'm doing

I've always loved photography and knew I wanted to do more than just point and shoot. But now that I'm really getting into it I feel like I'm in way over my head. There's so much that goes into it I never really realized.
I'm struggling with lighting - if I'm not out shooting in broad daylight my photos are turning out big ole blurry messes. As soon as I think I'm getting the hang of it I set the camera down for a couple of days and forget all about what to set my apenture at or what shutter speed to use. Urg.
I'm trying though - so this post is a warning that I will be posting some of my efforts and constructive critism will be appreciated. I'm on a wait list for a photography course at U of L but it's looking like fall until I can get in - until then, be prepared for blurry, badly composed disasters.

How Sweet It Is

Last night was the Michael Buble concert at Freedom Hall. The highlight of my year by far. I am a huge, huge, huge fan. I can't say enough good things about this man. A phenomenal entertainer, adorable as can be and quite hilarious.
Our original seats were the about 20 rows back - fortunately Todd knew someone working security that moved us up to the third row, which by the end of the night I was hugging the stage in front row. Unbelievable.
I was actually able to get a little video, hopefully it works - the sound quality is terrible (probably because I was screaming the whole time, along with 7,000 other women).
And yes, he was this close to me and yes he did touch my hand (twice) and yes I lost my freaking mind. Sorry for the shaky camera work, like I said I was freaking out. Also you'll notice about 36 seconds in I panned the camera back to our seats and Todd is sitting there calmly.

Here are a couple more photos - I only took a billion, which can be seen on my Flickr account if anyone is interested in more awesomeness!
Also, If anyone hasn't heard him and wants to I will be happy to burn you a cd - he is fabulous!!!

Snow Dog

Lilly goes nuts for the snow. She loves it, to the point it really hard to get a decent picture of her in action.

I try though - my camera has a rapid fire setting so in like fifteen pictures I get one good shot. She likes to drag the frisbee in the snow picking up a boat load of snow in it, then she throws it in the air dumping all the snow all over her. Weird but cute.

P.S. You can't tell me this dog isn't smiling! So cute!

30 days and counting...

Our trip to Hawaii is fast approaching. Practically a year of planning and it's now only a month away.

I've got the itinerary all mapped out -

The flights booked -

I've booked the room in Honolulu -

Booked all the fun tours -

Rented the Jeep -Rented the house on Kauai -

So now I have nothing to do and it is driving me nuts. I keep thinking I'm forgetting something major but I can't figure out what it could be.

I've even bought a Hawaiian cookbook.

I'm sure I'll get there and realize what it is, until then I will be counting the seconds until we leave.

Aloha!

Updates for y'all.

Not a whole lot going on lately. Todd just got back from Savannah Georgia where his brother was stationed. He was only gone a week and I about went crazy, if he was in Dales' position I would lose it for sure.
Dale is now on an 18 hour flight to Kuwait where he will have a few weeks to acclimate and then he will spend 9 months in Iraq. He is due back December 15 and which point he has already requested we all go on a Caribbean cruise. Sounds good to me.
