Evan's First Christmas

Christmas morning was everything I expected it to be. Evan was very excited to eat all the bows and rip some wrapping paper. He actually was interested in playing with some of the toys we got him too.
The stacking cups in this picture were a big hit.

He also really likes this stuffed dog that sings and teaches the different body parts. He basically loves anything that talks to him right now.

Daddy got him this little jersey and hat. Adorable.

One of my favorites was a little music table. I know as he gets older he will get many hours of enjoyment out of this one.

It was a slow paced morning, we just sat around and enjoyed the time together.  Evan took a little 2 hour nap before we headed off to Grandma's house.

I didn't get any pictures at my moms because I was the one helping Evan open presents. But we had a really good time.

I'm glad Christmas is over, the stress that goes along with all the gatherings and shopping takes its toll.  But I couldn't have asked for a better couple of days - we are so blessed to have such a loving family.

Christmas Eve

We had a fun Christmas Eve at our house with Todd's family.  Todd and I cooked a big dinner including  our first turkey. It turned out great.
We got Todd's mom this adorable puppy as her gift. She loves him.

She also got toys and a little sweater for him from other family members.

Evan had a good time opening presents. His favorite thing to do right now is rip paper so he was all about unwrapping gifts.

He also loved all the attention he got from the family.

At the end of the night we let him unwrap one present from Todd and I - Christmas pj's.

Then it was off to bed - he had a big day ahead of him tomorrow.

Flip!

My super awesome big brother got me a Flip for Christmas! I love love love love love it! It records in HD and has super awesome picture quality (as soon as I figure out how to upload and use all the features). In the mean time here's a sneak peak. Love it!

Better Late Than Never (Evan's Six Month Pics)

I had a happy baby and some halfway decent light this morning to take some six month pictures of Evan. These are just a few of my favorites. The rest can be seen here.

Getting Ready for the Big Day

We have been crazy busy getting ready for Christmas, it has been a stressful couple of weeks. I, as always, wait too long to go out shopping for everyones Christmas presents and here it is a week until Christmas and I still don't have everything. I'm close to being done though so that's good.

I've had Evan's done for a month. He's not getting a lot. I mean, he will surely play with the paper and bows more than anything else.

I took these pictures a few weeks ago for our Christmas cards, I think they turned out very cute. I have yet to take his 6 month pictures and I feel horrible about it. He will be 7 months on the 3rd of January so I need to get on it. If I don't I suppose these will do.

We also made the trip to see Santa last weekend. We stood in line for what seemed like forever - actual time, about an hour.
Evan was such a good boy and just smiled and stared at all the people and their kids.
When we got to Santa he just stared at the man and his beard. The photographer really had to work to get Evan to look at the camera.
That's about it for right now. My next post will probably after the madness of Christmas. I'm so excited to enjoy our baby's first Christmas.

Evan is 6 Months

My little man is six months! Unbelievable!
We had his 6 month checkup today and he weighs 17 pounds 11 ounces and is 26-1/4" long. He's still in the 50th percentile. My doctor commented we have a very average boy.

I think he is above average in cuteness though.

Nothing much else to report.
Except he loves carrots.

So Thankful

We had a Happy Thanksgiving, filled with family, laughs and love. I took my camera to both Thanksgiving dinner's that we attended but managed to get zero pictures.
I took these once we got home. I believe Evan is realizing the shock of meeting some of the family in this one...
In all seriousness, I have so much to be thankful for this year. I remember this day last year anticipating what the next year would bring. I was nervous and scared but I knew that our lives were going to change so much, for the better.

I'm thankful for my wonderful, patient husband who continues to crack me up every single day of my life.
My beautiful healthy baby boy - he is my sweet squish and I love him more than I ever imagined loving anyone.
My mom and dad - married 35 years and are still so obviously in love.
My big brother - still looking out for his little sis.
My great friends, I'm so grateful for reconnecting and strengthening our friendships over the past year. It means so much to me.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Loving This Boy

Just a little video to show my big boy sitting up.

This is such a fun age and I am loving every minute of it.

Look What I Can Do

I took these this morning. Yesterday he would sit up for maybe 2 or 3 seconds on his own then topple over. This morning I got 2-3 minutes of him sitting on his own. He's getting so big and growing so fast I can't believe it. He's 5-1/2 months this week.
Oh, what else is he up to...
He's still just the happiest baby. He rarely gets fussy, except maybe when it's close to nap time. He's doing pretty good on a four hour schedule but occasionally he still wants to eat every three. He's still sleeps through the night from about 8pm - 7am. We do a dreamfeed at about 10pm (where he has a bottle but doesn't really wake up for it). I'm looking forward to the day when we can drop that so I can go to bed a little earlier some nights. It's a small price to pay now though to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. He does wake sometimes if he has worked himself into an uncomfortable position and he can't get himself out of it. He is getting better at rolling every which way so that doesn't happen too often. He has a little cold right now but it doesn't seem to bother him too much. Just a runny nose and a cough.
Every day he gets a little more talkative. And he gets louder too. He still doesn't squeal. I just don't think he has discovered he can do it yet.
His naps are still hit or miss - sometimes 45 minutes sometimes 1-1/2 hours. He's down to 3 naps a day most days. On weekends I try and squeeze and extra nap in somewhere for him and he doesn't seem to mind.
That's about it right now. We've been told a lot lately about what a good and happy baby he is and I couldn't agree more. We are so blessed and I'm thankful everyday.

Another First

Tried our first bit of cereal this weekend. He seemed to enjoy it but didn't really get that the cereal should actually be swallowed instead of smearing it on his fingers. He also enjoyed smacking the spoon out of my hands. Funny the first couple of times but after about 5 times I learned that I needed a death grip on that spoon!

By the third attempt this weekend it seemed he got a little of the cereal down - I think he will get the hang of it in no time.

First Halloween

Our little man was a doctor for his first Halloween.
We only went to a couple of my aunts houses and even had to cut the night short because we found a nail in my tire. Evan didn't seem to notice though, he was a tired little doctor.

Evan is 5 Months

And the many faces of a five month old. I'm gonna go with the "I'm blissfully happy" face on the first one.

Then we have the "Why oh why am I laying in a pile of leaves?" face.

The "I have accepted this ridiculousness and will enjoy myself" face.

The "What is THAT?!" face.

The "I love you mommy" face. Obviously.

The "I'm impersonating Elvis" face.

I believe this one is the "I know I'm adorable" face.

Then we have the "I'm shy and flirty" face that we see quite a bit. (My favorite).

And last but not least the "man, enough with the pictures mom" face.
