Some Tailgating Pictures

Had a great time Saturday at the Cardinals game. We actually won this week, we beat Tennessee Tech 51-10. A little better than the two points we scored last week. Ouch.

Donnie and Debbie were feeling the love.
Mike was obviously bursting with excitement.

Jamie and Caitlyn. Some dude named Todd :-)Pit stop on our "two beer walk" to the stadium. (Because you have enough time to drink two beers on the way in - that's how far away we have to park.)Our first stop once inside. Priorities.

This is the view from our seats.

A Little Closer

As in I'm a little closer to having all the gear I need. I got the lens I took these with today - these were taken about two minutes after I opened the box. I love having little models at my beck and call.
This lens has a great depth of field so I'm all set for portraits. Just need some people instead of animals. Or other peoples animals, whatever.

Behold, the External Flash

Saturday I bought my first external flash for my camera and I honestly don't know how I lived without it. This was tops on my list of things I needed to get going. I knew it was important but I didn't expect to fall instantly in love.
This is the result with the external flash...

This is with no flash at all - blurry mess. Mainly because the dog doesn't sit still.
Oh glorious external flash...

This is what happens when i use the horrendous pop-up flash on the camera.

So worth the investment, wouldn't you say?

MiniCards Galore

I got my business cards today and I'm super excited. They aren't actually business cards - they're MiniCards. I ordered them from a really cool website called MOO.com. You just upload your pictures (up to 100) and create the text printing on the back and viola - MiniCards!
And I also got this keychain to put my cards in so I will always have them with me to ambush friends and family as I see them out and about.

So this may be step 1 of about 1,487 steps to becoming the photographer I want to be but hey, it's a start!
I began step 2 last weekend - designing my website. To say I was cursing and pulling my hair out would be an understatement. Codes, links, CSS, headers - ahhhhhhh!!! I have a new found respect for people that do this for a living. Anyway - after about 9 hours of struggle I got the first page up and running so check it out if you get a chance. But be warned, really only the front page works - I'll be spending some time this long weekend trying to figure the rest out.

Finally!!!

We've been on the waiting list for three years for U of L season tickets for football. We finally got the call last week we have been waiting for. This is a huge deal for us. No more wandering the parking lot looking for extra tickets, no more dealing with the scalpers who seem to think tickets are made of gold. I'm so freaking excited!
Don't tell my husband but I look forward to the tailgating more than the games. I mean, don't get me wrong the games are fun and exciting but just hanging out in the parking lot before, well there's nothing like it - good food, great beer and fantastic friends. That's what it's all about!
Season starts in 11 days, U of L vs. UK and I can't wait. Go Cards!

Location, Location, Location.

I spent today looking all over Louisville for locations for future photo shoots.  I really want to do engagement, family and children's photos as soon as I can. Hopefully some day I can move up to weddings but for right now I need to be realistic.  I found some great locations, just to give an idea I took over 300 pictures today - so this only a small sample.

Todd was such a sport. I'm so lucky that he supports me in this endeavor! Otherwise, I would still be driving around Louisville completely lost. I'm quite geographically and navigationally challenged.

And as much as he hates his picture being taken he was sweet enough to indulge me a couple of times.

Todd doing his best Forrest Gump.

I can't help it -- I see flowers I must photograph them. It's a sickness.

I realized today I have an obsession with benches.

And only cause I think it's hilarious... and I'm quite sure I always will - I give you...

So fun!

We got a Wii yesterday. I love it.
It's a lot of fun and I don't feel guilty about playing it cause it is truly a workout. Well, I feel a little guilty - I haven't left the man cave all day (the man cave is what I call the basement). Kinda hot out anyway, who needs sunshine and fresh air right?
